Fundraise for us

Transform the lives of children through music

You can make a lasting impact on the lives of disadvantaged children and youth-at-risk across Australia. Whether it’s a karaoke night, putting on a concert, running a marathon, or a bake sale at your workplace, we can support your idea. We’re grateful you’ve thought of us and we’re here to support you in choosing your fundraising idea along with tips and ideas on how to fundraise effectively.

By raising funds and awareness, you’ll bring the joy and benefits of music to children and young people currently missing out.

Choose your fundraising idea:

A Musical Event

Stage the ultimate karaoke night, organise a concert, battle of the bands or Christmas carols. Whether it’s donate to vote, donating proceeds from ticket sales, asking for donations during the event, or auctioning off music items a musical event engages you and your community in musical performance whilst raising funds.

Performing not your thing? Then why not have a fave band t-shirt day at work or dress like a rock/pop star for the day (a great event for school kids). Collect donations to dress up and maybe combine with other ideas like trivia or a morning tea.

A Health Kick Challenge

Get active or kick a habit for a month for a good cause. This is a great way to look after your health and wellbeing whilst also raising money to support children in need.

Kick a habit for a month or longer. Kicking junk food, sugary drinks, alcohol or social media whilst raising funds for a cause helps keep you on track with your personal goal as well as transforming young lives. Ask for money for completing the event or a $1 a day for every day you successfully abstain.

Get active. Whether it’s Couch to 5k, an ocean swim, a sponsored walk or joining a race. Friends, family and colleagues will often sponsor you for an active challenge. The harder the feat the bigger the donations you’ll get. Ask to be sponsored for completing the event, or $5 for every km you conquer.

Join an Organised Race

Between walks, runs, swims, and more there’s not a shortage of events to join.

Many of these events such as the City 2 Surf, Sydney half Marathon and Nike Melbourne Marathon make it easy to register as an ACMF charity fundraiser.

A Hair Thing

Dye your hair, get it styled in the image of an out there rock or pop star, or shave your hair off. Ask for donations or get inventive and let the highest bidder choose the style or colour.

Trivia or Bingo Night

Who doesn’t love being quizzed on their general knowledge or getting excited when they can scream the word “Bingo!”. Go on and host a trivia or bingo night where you could charge for entry tickets to raise money for the ACMF.

A Food Event

Who doesn’t like a bite to eat? Whether it’s hosting a luncheon, organising a morning tea at your workplace, or putting on a Bunnings BBQ a food event is a great way of socialising and raising money at the same time. To make the event fun and interesting, you could charge guests what they think the item of food they’ve chosen to eat is worth and hold a raffle or auction.

Donations Instead of Gifts

Whether you love Christmas and birthday celebrations or prefer to let them pass quietly by you can use these times of the year to help give the gift of music to children missing out.

Ask your friends and family to donate what they would have spent on your present or suggest they donate your age in dollars.

For Schools

There are lots of great ways to get the school community involved in fundraising.

Simply ask for a gold coin donation and:

  • Hold a concert or Christmas carols as a combined school fundraiser and a portion of funds also going to ACMF
  • Hold a “Dress like your Favourite Music Star” parade
  • Have a “Zooper-Dooper Day” when the sun is shining
  • Host a cupcake morning tea
  • Come to school with your decorated hair for “Crazy Hair Day”

Getting Started

Now you’ve thought of your fundraising idea, here are some other things to think of:

  1. You can contact our fundraising team for an Authority to Fundraise form and if any logo or promotional material is required.
  2. Set ambitious yet attainable fundraising goals and work on your elevator pitch which should briefly encapsulate what your event is about and why you’re raising money for The ACMF.
  3. Lead by example – it’ll be easier to get the donations rolling in if people can see your personal commitment and $ committed prompts others to do the same.
  4. Promote to your networks (family, friends, colleagues etc) the more personal the ask the more likely the donation will follow through
  5. Get social – promote via email, text, social media and give updates on your progress. If you can publicly thank people as they donate, this can motivate others who haven’t got round to it yet.
  6. See if your workplace or local businesses will dollar match. Some workplaces and businesses will dollar match for a period of time to help drive more donations from others. You can then go out to your networks and ask them to donate because x business will match their donation.
  7. Think about venues – if you need one look into suitable venues. Consider parking, equipment, catering requirements and book in advance.
  8. Limit your costs – Ask for venues, raffle prizes, auction items and services to be donated. You’ll be surprised how generous local businesses can be if you just ask.
  9. If you’re planning something big, consider contacting your local newspaper or radio station.
  10. Share your fundraising photos and story with us so you can inspire others.
