What is the National Song Writing Competition (NSC)?

The Australian Children’s Music Foundation’s (ACMF) National Songwriting Competition is an initiative to encourage creativity and self-expression through songwriting. The NSC aims to achieve:

  • Creativity and imagination
  • Positive self-expression
  • Engagement with learning
  • Improvement of literacy levels
  • Opportunities for talented students

Who can enter the National Song Writing Competition?

This is an annual competition open to Australian children and young adults under the age of 18.There are no geographic or socio-economic boundaries and is the only ACMF initiative that is open to all school age children and youth throughout Australia.

The competition is divided into grades to provide opportunities for children of all ages, from Year 1 through to Year 12. Many children enter the competition in consecutive years, with a number of students entering multiple songs and improving their results each year.
