The Australian Children’s Music Foundation (ACMF) recently joined forces with national leaders, educators, and changemakers at Admiralty House.
Hosted by Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of Australia and Patron of Music Education: Right from the Start, the event marked five years of collective advocacy. As an active contributing member of this collaborative national initiative – led by Alberts The Tony Foundation – the ACMF is proud to stand alongside partners who share the deep conviction that every single primary school child deserves a quality, sequential, and ongoing music education.
A Shared Vision for Systemic Reform
ACMF Founder Don Spencer OAM and Director of Philanthropy & Public Affairs Rory Alcock attended the celebration, which brought together key stakeholders from education departments, philanthropy, and the music industry. The evening also coincided with the launch of Music Education: A (Re)Sounding Investment, a vital new report tracking the systemic progress made by the initiative since 2020.
For the ACMF, working alongside partners like Alberts The Tony Foundation reinforces a core, shared mission that geography or socio-economic background should never dictates a child’s access to the transformative power of music.
“Music learning is most powerful when it starts early, it goes on consistently and when every child has a chance to build skills over time,” Her Excellency noted during the event, highlighting that music remains one of the fastest ways to build empathy, confidence, and belonging in schools.
Turning Policy Advocacy into Classroom Impact
As the ACMF continues to deliver our own targeted music programs in disadvantaged schools and youth justice centres nationwide, backing national policy change remains a vital piece of the puzzle. The momentum celebrated at Admiralty House proves that through dedicated leadership and active collaboration, the conversation is shifting from why music education matters, to exactly how we deliver it to every child together.
