The final curtain has fallen on the national tour of CATS, but its legacy is just beginning. Through a powerhouse strategic partnership with Crossroads Live, the ACMF has reached a significant new milestone in industry-led fundraising, raising a staggering $32,707.82 across the tour’s Sydney, Perth, and Melbourne seasons.
The Power of the Theatre Community
his $32,707.82 total represents a massive grassroots effort. Every night, the CATS cast stepped forward during their seasons in Sydney, Perth, and Melbourne to share our mission with the audience.
The response was immediate. From nightly cast announcements to the final bucket collections, the theatre community proved they believe in the future of Australian music. To put this total into perspective, the funds raised from this single tour are enough to:
Transform an Entire School: Fully fund a full year of music education, including instruments and expert teacher support, for a disadvantaged school community.
Support Youth Justice: Alternatively, it is enough to fund two of our youth justice music programs for a year – providing a vital creative outlet and rehabilitation through music for young people in the justice system.
The Next Act: ‘Waitress’ in Melbourne and Sydney
Building on this phenomenal success, the ACMF is thrilled to announce we’re the official charity partner for the upcoming Crossroads Live production of Waitress.
This next chapter is particularly special for the ACMF family, as our own Board Member and Ambassador, Rob Mills, stars in the production. The tour kicks off this May at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne, before heading to the Sydney Lyric in August.
