A Shared Passion for Music
At Meriden School, music is more than just sound; it’s a vibrant part of school life. As the students themselves put it, “Music is a powerful form of creative expression. It teaches discipline, fosters resilience, and helps build lifelong habits and skills in a fun and artistic way.” Seeing the results of hard work come to life on stage is incredibly rewarding, and for the York House Fundraising Committee, this shared passion became a powerful motivation to support a cause that deeply resonated with them: the Australian Children’s Music Foundation.
A Mission to Share the Joy of Music
The students feel incredibly fortunate to have such a vibrant performing arts department. They wanted to shine a light on the value of music education and help bring its life-changing benefits to children across Australia who may not have the same access. This mission was deeply personal. “Personally, I’ve been playing the piano since I was six and the saxophone since I was twelve,” one student shared. “Over the years, it has boosted my confidence, improved my habits, and helped me grow both personally and creatively. Music has always been a source of connection, creativity, and community for us.”
Creative Fundraising in Action
To raise funds, the students thought creatively and had fun with it. They organized a successful cupcake and keyring sale, selling every one of the 250 delicious treats donated by a Meriden alumna. They also created a beautiful photo frame decorated with ribbons, where students could write their names and goals—a visual representation of their house spirit and collective aspirations.

The fundraiser was a huge success, showing that every act of support, no matter how small, can make a difference. The students’ advice to anyone thinking of fundraising for ACMF is simple: “Just go for it! As ACMF is a creative charity, there are endless ways to get involved! Don’t be afraid to think outside the box and have fun with it!”
