ACMF National Songwriting Competition 2018 – Winners Announced!

The results are in for the Winners of the Australian Children’s Music Foundation’s (ACMF) annual National Songwriting Competition.
Now in its 16th year, the competition ignites and inspires self-expression and ingenuity through music among its young contenders.ACMF CEO and Founder, Don Spencer says,
“Song-writing is a highly creative process. We want kids to free their imagination and engage with learning in a fun way.”
With seven categories spanning Kindergarten to Grade 12 — the calibre, content, and talent behind the songs written by its school-age entrants astounded its panel of judges.
The panel met at APRA/AMCOS’ Sydney office this month to review over 70 songs, shortlisted from nearly a thousand submissions nationally. Judges assessed each song’s lyrics, melody, song structure, and originality.
Essentially, the National Songwriting Competition is an extension of what the ACMF achieves through its free music programs within schools, hospitals, and juvenile justice centres across Australia.
We offer disadvantaged youth the opportunity to connect and engage with the hope that music education brings, and the transformative power that it has to change lives.
The ACMF is delighted to see the remarkable benefits of music education, particularly in learning and early-childhood development, being more publicly recognised and explored.
This year’s competition is sponsored by supporting partners, APRA/AMCOS, Ampal, and oOh! Media. Winners will receive substantial prize money to be put towards music education, tuition and more.
