Meet the teacher: Steve, WA

Meet Steve, an ACMF teacher who does ALOT for the ACMF. He not only teaches at a number of programs in WA, he is the WA programs coordinator and he does a fantastic job!  He has made a difference in the lives of disadvantaged youth and we asked him to answer a few questions for us to then share with you..

Favourite band/s: Thats a hard one so many, Gary Moore, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Credence Clear Water, Bob Brozman, Fleetwood Mac, The Waifs, Pachelbel, Johnny Cash, The Poilce, Bob Marley, Madonna, Dami Im, Alica Keys, Iron Madian I like so many types of music from pop to rock to classical.

What instruments do you play? Guitar (in open tuning’s as well as normal), Bass, Drums, Keyboards, Ukulele, Banjo, Mandolin, I’m also a sound engineer with my own studio and have released 5 albums in the past five years.

Favourite story from your time teaching for the ACMF? One of the boys who I use to teach from Derby was a pretty bad bully, turned things around and became a good bass player, getting work in a local band, a job as an apprentice mechanic and has been a great help to with inspiring other children.

How long have you been teaching music? 25 years.

Why do you like teaching music? I like seeing the progress in students and seeing smiling faces and the bond that happens between teacher and student.
