Sharing songs in the community…

We have been running a music program at Hillston Central School for a number of years now – and everyone in this local community is experiencing the effects of it! Every term, ACMF teacher Rachel Scott visits and works with the children for a few days – and then leaves the choir in the capable hands of two of the teachers at the school. This visit, she taught them a song where not only the children sing, but they also sign the lyrics using AUSLAN (Australian sign language).

Last week, the children went to perform at the local nursing home and hospital, and sang beautifully! Their signing was also fabulous – and brought a tear to many. Well done, every member of the choir, and well done to Amelia who conducted them all (what a great mini-music-teacher you are!).

A community member wrote, “It was a very moving performance and the residents absolutely loved it and have been talking about it all day. Thank you for singing so beautifully for us…”
