Musicians from the Royal Australian Navy Band visit Hillston Central School!

Last Wednesday was a busy day for the band members at Hillston Central School!

After a number of years, and under the expert tuition of Hillston teacher Robyn Bartholomew, the school now boasts TWO bands that play not only at school functions but at all sorts of community events. For the last four years, the Royal Australian Navy Band has been tutoring the Hillston school band via video-conference, and occasionally popping out to see their students to continue lessons and perform all together.

Both bands got a chance to work with the visiting Navy band players, and there were two concerts for the community with all band members playing. To see more photos of the day just go here.

A great time was had by all – so many smiling faces from both audience members and performers – and some fabulous music-making and friendships forged over the day!

Music at Hillston is growing and growing – the school has regular visits from ACMF Education manager, Rachel Scott, all the class teachers teach regular music lessons, the school choir sings beautifully, years 7 and 8 have regular drum lessons – and the school is about to stage their second musical! Everyone at the ACMF LOVES hearing Hillston news!
