Our Lady of Mount Carmel’s ANZAC celebrations
Last Monday, children from years 3-6 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel had a very busy day! At 10am they walked to a local retirement home to sing seven songs to the residents there, all linked to war and ANZAC day. Many of their audience there joined in, and the louder the residents sang, the louder the children sang – it was a moment where there were so many smiles!
At noon, they had a bus-load of visitors from another nursing home to come to the concert in the school hall. Family and friends also padded out the audience to hear the choir sing (again!), year 5 drum on buckets, and years 3 and 4 drum on chairs.
After the concert, there was a lunch – lots of sandwiches, scones and Anzac biscuits for performers and audience-members.
It was a great day – lots of music, lots of smiles, proud performers and very proud teachers – especially their music teacher, ACMF Education manager Rachel Scott. For more photos go here….
