ACMF

Seaman Musician, Haylen Newman

As part of the ACMF’s ongoing excellent relationship with the Royal Australian Navy Band, Leading Seaman Musician Haylen Newman, a Euphonium Player and Audio Engineer with the band, is now working on a joint project with the ACMF and RAN in Nhulunbuy and Yirrkala in the Gove Peninsula in NT.

Haylen has moved there for twelve months (his wife is midwife at the local hospital) and while continuing as a member of the RAN, is now teaching our ACMF music programs in all five schools in the region, including the remote homeland schools. He’s teaching everything from brass to percussion, singing, songwriting and recording, as well as our professional development music program for the classroom teachers . Our thanks to the RAN for this extremely generous initiative.

Haylen and Don catch up before Haylen heads up to Gove Peninsula in NT.
