A CELEBRATION CONCERT TO REMEMBER
The Celebration Concert at Her Majesty’s in Melbourne on Sunday night had the audience on their feet calling for more. The full house enjoyed a night of great entertainment by some of the country’s leading musical theatre stars like David Hobson, Rachael Beck, Jennifer Vuletic and Queenie Van De Zandt. As MC, George Kapinaris kept the laughs coming and highlights included Rachael Beck and Debra Byrne doing “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserable as a duet, having both played the role of Fantine on stage 10 years apart. Showing another side of himself other than opera, David Hobson played guitar and beautifully sang Lennon & McCartney and the fabulous cast from Jersey Boys rocked the house with their version of the Amy Winehouse hit “Rehab”.
Half the proceeds of the night were donated to the ACMF and our ACMF choir from Seaford Park Primary School helped kick off the show with a wonderful song written by Catherine Casey “Wings of Love”. Conducted by ACMF music teacher Bronwyn Calcutt they were joined on stage by the cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for a rousing last chorus.
Here’s a pic of the choir with Don Spencer and Rachael Beck just after rehearsals.
