Don Spencer’s musical influence continues to inspire

Don Spencer was really delighted to see the kids from Quirindi Public School Choir (his old stomping ground – Don grew up in Tamworth) performing one of his songs.

Their Music teacher, Rosie Waugh, wrote asking us for a backing track for ‘Boomerang’ so the choir could perform it at NAIDOC week. When we asked if she could send us a recording, she wrote back to tell us how excited the kids were, and said they were now crossing their fingers in hope that they might meet Don one day.

Rosie then went on to say ‘Don has been such an inspiration to all of my music listening and teaching. I grew up listening to him in every family car trip…my brother even named his kelpie ‘Bob’ after the song… and now I’m bringing his music back into the classroom as a primary school teacher and head of choir. Please send him my many thanks and many thanks to you (ACMF) too for helping us out at Quirindi Public School.’

Here’s a video of the Quirindi Public School Choir performing Boomerang.
