Has music helped you through tough times?
The link between mental health and music has long been a hot topic. On one side, music helps with mental health issues, is used as a form of therapy for dementia patients and kids with developmental and learning disabilities to name a few. But on the other side, muso’s are ten times more likely to face mental health issues. Music is something we just feel so deeply and strongly!
The programs we run help individuals to overcome mental health issues. Music really does sooth the soul! WA ACMF teacher Dave has seen first-hand the power music has when dealing with anxiety and/or depression.
‘There are two students this semester who have benefited from the program and in particular, concerning their mental well-being. They are both serving long sentences and both have talked about how learning music has supported them through periods of depression.’
