Product Description

How is your school celebrating NAIDOC week? How about with a song, art, cooking and the creation of a bush tucker garden?

The Australian Children’s Music Foundation’s new resource, based around legendary children’s entertainer Don Spencer OAM’s song ‘Bush Tucker’ is especially designed for Australian primary schools, bringing music, visual art, language and an appreciation of Aboriginal culture together in an easy-to-use teaching module for classroom teachers.

In this resource you will receive: Don’s song ‘Bush Tucker’ as an mp3 with Don singing (so the class can learn the song), and an mp3 of the backing track (for performance). You will also receive lyrics and suggested actions for the song. Also included are lesson ideas about bush foods, bush food recipes, suggestions for a bush tucker garden, art ideas and some ideas to develop language skills and song-writing. There are extensive learning outcomes for each year group (Foundation – Year Six) listed throughout the resource for ease of assessment.

After spending a number of years working in schools around the country, ACMF Education Manager, Rachel Scott saw a need for modular lessons linking music to other parts of the school’s curriculum. She was also often asked for songs that were relevant to certain celebrations in the school calendar – NAIDOC week being one of them.

For $25 you can have this resource emailed to you in time to prepare for NAIDOC week with everything you need to sing, paint, plant, cook and learn!
