Singer, songwriter and founder of the Australian Children’s Music Foundation, Don Spencer OAM has released a delightful children’s book based on his song, I wish I had an elephant. With over 500 published songs under his belt, iconic Playschool presenter Don Spencer has created a children’s book that provides a new format for children to engage with and enjoy his music.
Don’s song I wish I had an elephant has evolved into a beautiful read-aloud book, full of engaging lyrics that are filled with humour and great to speak aloud. With charming illustrations by Johan Stapelberg, it’s the story of a child who is trying to convince his parents that an elephant is all he wants as a pet.
Don is passionate about music and children’s education.
“Reading picture books to children is one of the best things you can do for a child’s development” said Don.“Music is also one of the only activities that stimulates and uses the entire brain – so I’m thrilled to be able to cover all bases with this book.”
The launch will include a live performance of the song and some of his other much-loved favourite songs – as well as a reading, photo and book signing session.
