Liam is from Taree, in year 8, and was nominated by ACMF teacher Matt Zarb, who teaches him in a drumming group at Taree High.
Matt writes “From the moment Liam arrived he showed huge talent with his rhythm and sense of music. He has proven to be an amazing entity in the group and is a great player! He is diligent, kind and a very friendly boy.”
Liam will be having a term’s worth of drum lessons from local teacher Michael Eyb – you can see him in action here:
Have a look at the assembly at Taree high where Liam was told about his scholarship by his ACMF teacher, Matt. We love Liam’s smile!
Lucy is sixteen and lives in Sydney and was nominated by ACMF teacher Rachel Scott. Lucy plays many instruments – the guitar, flute, ukulele and her favourite instrument, the drums. She’s an active part of her school musical life, and is doing music as an HSC elective. She’s planning on studying music after she leaves school.
Lucy has been awarded a mentorship with the Sydney-based musician and guitarist Peter Northcote (http://www.peternorthcote.com/) over the next year. She’ll be playing, performing, recording, composing and learning about the music industry from a legendary musician – what a year she’ll have!
Hello! My name is Lucy de Pater. I am the very happy recipient of the Joel Abernethy Advantage and I am very much looking forward to working with Peter Northcote and my guitar.
I am seventeen years old and I am in Year 11. I am passionate about music and one of my favourite pastimes is attending concerts and gigs to enjoy live music. My musical influences include Nirvana, Twenty One Pilots, Dune Rats and Jimi Hendrix. My goal in music is to compose a musical. I am currently learning to play the drums and the cello, I have previously learnt to play the guitar and the flute. Another goal of mine is to learn to play every instrument in the orchestra! When I finish school I am aiming to attend university and to study a Bachelor of Music.
Thank you for choosing me, I look forward to sharing my musical journey with you!
